In the late afternoon, take a guided nature walk around the lodge with a resident naturalist. This morning, enjoy a rare wildlife experience in Sri Lanka — observing animals from the water. In the late afternoon, set off on a guided walk with a member of the Veddha community. Gal Oya Lodge is located near one of the last remaining groups of the Veddha — the forest-dwelling indigenous people of Sri Lanka. The village chief will lead you through jungle paths once walked by his ancestors. As he shares stories and ancestral knowledge about medicinal plants, hunting grounds, and cave dwellings, you will gain a meaningful glimpse into the traditional hunter-gatherer way of life that has been preserved for generations.
